The former chairman of the House of Representatives committee on appropriations, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has denied allegations that he is on drugs.
The embattled lawmaker in a series of tweets disclosed that he underwent a Psychoactive Substance Screening test following allegations that he has been acting against the authorities of the House under the influence of substances.

He noted that all the allegations against him were made using faceless groups or discredited organisations and individuals.
The lawmaker said: “There has been a well-orchestrated and paid campaign of calumny against me by Speaker Yakubu Dogara and his group of corrupt cabal. The plan is to divert attention from the allegations on him and focus on damaging my credibility and reputation with all sorts of blackmail.
“They circulated in the media that I am under the influence of drugs, specifically cocaine. As politicians, we throw such mud at ourselves.”
In reaction, some of his followers took a swipe at him, calling him and his colleagues criminals.
Some others said they were solidly behind him.
The ethics and privileges committee of the House was mandated to investigate Jibrin for alleged misconduct following his continued insistence that Speaker Yakubu Dogara and others doctored the 2016 budget.
