President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo during the 2015 presidential election that ousted the administration of the People’s Democratic party campaigned bombastically against the value of the naira in exchange for the dollar.
When the value of the naira in exchange for the dollar was N216, the All Progressives Congress lamented bitterly with President Muhammadu Buhari categorically promising that he will equate the dollar with the Nigerian currency if he wins.
Fast-forward to September, 2016, a naira is being exchanged for N425 at the black market and N305 at the interbank rate.
All efforts of the Central Bank of Nigeria have failed to salvage the free fall of the naira.
