Ever heard the saying, ‘Eko for show’?
Lagos is the heartbeat and livewire of Nigeria. Asides being the state with the highest population, it is also the commercial hub of Nigeria.
There’s just something that’s very special about Lagos, and the spirit of Lagosians. Here are some things that only true Lagosians would understand, and people who live in other states in Nigeria will find very difficult to relate to.
1. The traffic
The third mainland bridge holds the record for the bridge with the longest traffic jam in Africa. Traffic in Lagos can be really crazy and people leave their homes as early as 5am in order to make it to their offices on time. People who live in other states might not understand why this commute is such a struggle.

Danfo is the official name for the yellow buses that ply the roads of Lagos every day, and they have their own official code of conduct. Using Danfos is not for the faint hearted and only true Lagosians have the bus routes mastered.
3. Nightlife
The city of Lagos never sleeps. There is always something going on, people working. Even by 3 am, you’d be sure to find people on the highway. There is always something going on in Lagos, every second of the day.
