Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho reportedly should sell eight stars

Mourinho’s side has finally ended their eight-week league drought.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice as Manchester United produced a first half masterclass to defeat Swansea City 3 – 1 at the City of Liberty stadium. United opened the scoring when Paul Pogba sliced home a half volley from a cleared cross.

And Goal notes that Ashley Young, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian completed the back four, and Mourinho had some words for players who deemed themselves unfit on the weekend.

The coach said:  “I have a friend who is a big tennis player and he tells me when he remembered more the times he plays with pain than the times he plays without pain. To compete you have to go to the limit. It is cultural for some – and that is not my culture. More than me, it is Man United.”

He stressed: “We have players with problems. At every sport – and I know because I have friends in others sports and they play at the highest level in their sport, and how many times they play when you are not 100 per cent.”

Mirror reports that in his turn Premier League legend Matt Le Tissier has told him he must sell a number of players because they simply aren’t of the requisite quality to play for United.

The former star said:

“I think Manchester United need to let Phil Jones go, he’s just too injury-prone to rely on. Marcos Rojo just hasn’t got the quality that Manchester United are used to.”

He added:

Matteo Darmian is another one who has failed to live up to his price tag, so I’d probably let him go. I don’t think Ashley Young has contributed enough. Marouane Fellaini doesn’t fit the bill. (Morgan Schneiderlin) was one of the Premier League’s best players in that role at Saints but it hasn’t worked out for him at United.”

Matt Le Tissier continued:

“I thought it was a strange one when they signed Bastian Schweinsteiger. They didn’t need somebody like him with the injuries he’s had, but that’s not to say he’s not a very good player. I don’t think Memphis Depay has delivered when he’s had the chances. Time for him to go.”
