“Americans have just screwed the world yet again,” said Syed Tashfin Chowdhury, a Bangladeshi whose friends are living the US.

He is just one of the world’s 1.5billion Muslims who no longer feel safe since Donald Trump has won the presidential race on Tuesday, November 8.

Months of anti-Islamic rhetoric and hatred stoke terror and anger into Islam followers who are still  struggling to accept the news and noew expecting the worst to come.

Here are just some reactions from the terrified people worldwide:

“I’m very afraid, will there be more wars? Will America attack Muslim countries again?” asked Indonesian activist Alijah Diete as Donald

“When the United States uses hard power, extremists gain a momentum. Those who will be the happiest when Trump wins are ISIS,”  Zuhairi Misrawi, an Islamic scholar from moderate Indonesian Islamic organisation Nahdlatul Ulama, said.

“I am disappointed to see Donald Trump winning because Hillary Clinton is a good woman, she is good for Pakistan and Muslims all over the world. She was talking about world peace – but Trump was talking about fighting against Muslims,” said Ishaq Khan, aged 32, from Islamabad.

Even children are scared now!

A teacher at a school in the United Arab Emirates said that children in his class were extremely dissapointed when he told them the election result and told him they would never be able to go to America again.

He added: “It’s so sad. They are genuinely worried.  I didn’t think it would have this sort of affect.”

An anonymous Pakistani government official called the news “absolutely atrocious and horrifying” while others in the country also lamented the results.

“I am very concerned that the relationship between the US and Muslim countries will become tense again,” said the female Muslim activist Diete, aged 47, from Indonesia.

However, there are some optimists among Muslims too, they hope that his anti-Muslim policy was aimed at gaining cheap votes and wouldn’t be implemented if he enters the White House.

Tahir Ashrafi, a senior Pakistani government cleric, said: “We hope that Trump’s remarks against Muslims were only to boost his campaign and he will realise that Muslims are a large population in the U.S.”

The majority are afraid that Trump could fan Muslim extremism globally at a time when the world is struggling with a growing threat of Islamic militancy.

Recall that Following the November 2015 Paris attacks and California shooting, Trump called for a temporary ban on Muslim immigration to the United States.
